"...based on results of a global survey of airline executives, directors and analysts who rate companies in their own industry on nine criteria: people management, quality of management, innovation, long-term investment, use of corporate assets, financial soundness, social responsibility, quality of product and services and global competitiveness."
How interesting that most of the criteria have nothing directly to do with customers. Quality of product and services is really the only one.
Would that they surveyed the public, or <gasp> FT, they would likely get a somewhat different result

Interesting... click into the report. High marks in a lot of areas, but quality of products/services - Rank: 7.

Surveys can be designed to obtain the results one wishes to get. This seems to. Anyone who would rank in this way has no respect for the legitimacy of rankings. There is zero justification for this on any basis, financial, operational, efficiency, customer service...

But to be fair, it's not like DL owns Money magazine...

A quote from the DL press release:

You know, given the content of every single one of your posts, you don't like Delta, not at all. It's weird that you still fly Delta.

I have made a fair number of posts that were positive about DL. the problem comes iof there must be a comparison to majro Asian or European carriers. DL has promoted delusions of grandeur by making assertions such as "world class' . It is not only DL, many others do that. Goals and aspirations are good to have, but they do set expectations also.

Long-Term Investment - Industry Rank 1
Is this a joke? They wiped out their shareholders in the past five years. If you've provided a -100% return to your shareholders over the past five years, I don't see how you can possibly be ranked #1 in "long-term investment".

Do they mean "long-term value to investors" or that DL is making investments for the long term? Fleet updates, etc. do show that they're doing things in this regard.

I cannot comprehend how Delta "Best of Class" got ranked # 1 ! They just came out of bankruptcy. All you have to do is look at the stock price over the past 5 years and you can tell that this survey is a farce.
