Inconsistent pricing on delta.com

First time I have used delta.com, looking to fly SLC-YVR on May 8. delta.com shows connecting flights leaving at 4:45 in U and T for $253. I found that expedia has the same flights both in T for $222. So I went to kayak, and that also showed flights for $222 - this time on delta.com, both in T . Seems to be a consistent discrepancy.

Not being used to delta.com, I don't understand why this is happening?

Expedia and Kayak may not be showing the added fees with their price where Delta does?

Not an issue of fees: just fare class. The fare difference is due to delta.com pricing the first segment of SLC-PDX-YVR in either U or T.

What is strange, though, is when I tried the itin on Kayak as the OP stated, Kayak routed me *to the DL site*, with the lower fare on the "checkout page". This pricing was not available when searching directly on DL.

My guess is this is a case of kayak.com and expedia.com having more complex/smarter airfare search engines. The cheapest airfare for your journey is actually a combination of a SLC-PDX fare and a PDX-YVR fare. The complex algorithms behind kayak.com and expedia.com found this but delta.com was pricing out your journey using SLC-YVR fares.

This actually happened to me two days ago - was booking an itinerary that priced on ITA and Expedia as $320ish but on Delta.com and Orbitz as $335ish. Same fare class, T, same fare basis code, TA14A0NJ, same exact routing.

I was booking right on the 14 day advance purchase boundary, so I figured it was a timezone difference or something at the time...

I took a ton of screenshots on Expedia and then proceeded to book on Delta.com (as I there was a chance I might need to use the 24 hour cancellation policy). When I clicked through the summary page to try and purchase, Delta.com siad "the price of your itinerary has changed, and is now $320. Is this OK?"

So if you encounter discrepancies in the future, you may consider clicking through one level beyond the summary page to see if the pricing engine fixes its mistake...

Well, I'm assuming that all of you are at least getting quotes in US$. I tried changing a flight last night and was quoted a fare differential in Euros. Really.

Not sure if you were hoping to use the lowest fare guarantee, but I see that it is only valid if the fare is in the same fare class .
