Thanks. Hard to criticize more First Class seating. Any comments on the rumored "upsell" program?

Thanks SMI.

Perhaps you can jump in here and shed some light on this?:

Jeff, I really do hope you will participate in the other discussion. They go together. To talk here about raising upgrade opportunities without discussing possible loss of upgrade opportunities in the other thread isn't telling the entire story.

This very loyal Delta flier is concerned.

Thanks SMI for your post and continued participation in FT. Hope you're more active than lurking in 2011....

So eventually all the non-BE 757s will have 7 rows of FC, correct?

With 28 seats in F it's pretty hard for it to have any different configuration in F.

Wonder which closet will go (or will the mid-cabin lav go?

6 more F Seats on the domestic 767s is good news, thanks SMI.

Any kind of elaboration you can provide regarding the upselling of F would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder how much of the percent increase in available FC seats fleetwide comes from the fact the Saabs are being retired (not that I'll miss them)?

I also wonder what it means when they say the the galleys will be smaller?

I agree that this increase is probably due to the flying cigar tubes getting FC.

More F seats? Certainly not in the A319 where they removed 4 F seats. And more F seats so they can sell them. Doesn't seem like "exciting" news to me!

Perhaps reading the release will enlighten you. The Barbie jets are done. All birds listed are main line.......

You appear to have an issue with accepting facts. Yes the 319 lost seats. Have you even bothered to look at the list of birds gaining seats? Or is your dislike of DL so deep any announcement is an opportunity to slam them?

And yes DL is in the business of selling seats on an airplane. What is the point of that statement other than a very small vocal minority here want everything for free.............

Here's what the press release actually says.....

Code:
Aircraft Fleet Before After Completion Date
CRJ-700 66 0 9 Completed
MD-90 19 12 16 Second Quarter 2011
MD-88 117 14 16 Fourth Quarter 2011
767-300 14 24 30 Second Quarter 2011
757-200 134 24 28 Second Quarter 2013

Footnotes:
CRJ-700 operated by Delta Connection,
767-300 Domestic, and
757-200 "Before" seats are fleet average
Perhaps this means that the 757-200 fleet will have just two seat maps instead of the six or seven currently flying.

I in fact did read the release and the Barbie Jets are included in their numbers for increased numbers of FC seats. CR7 added 594/1524 seats = 39% of all the seats. The next closest is the 752 which will add 536 seats or 35% of all the seats. As the 752 is more than double the number of planes as the CR7, the largest % of increase is the CR7.

Including the installation of First Class seats on larger Delta Connection aircraft completed earlier this year, ...
I am not trashing the announcemnt, just stating that the FC seats are coming more from smaller planes than larger (I tend to end up on the smaller, so I do appreciate it)

I'm trying to square this announcement against the removal of F seats in the PMNW metal that's currently going on. I'm scratching my head.

I will say it would be nice to have a consistent seat map in the 757 fleet. Add some foot cutouts on the F bulkheads while you're at it.
