747-400s (and probably 767-300ERs) to get new overhead [pivot] bins

Looking at this photo it looks like the 744 fleet will be getting new pivot bins:

This should improve storage capacity as well as give the cabin a more spacious appearance.

Note that it was announced previously that the 763ER fleet was going to get new overhead bins, although it wasn't stated whether they would be pivot or shelf bins. With the 744s getting pivot bins, I think it is safe to assume the 763ER will also get pivot bins.

The pivot bins are those found on the 764, right? I've never had any issues fitting my 22" wheels first.

It isn't safe to assume anything, stop that...

Since when? They are much larger based on my personal experience (the 764ER bins are clearly larger than those on the 763s). DL wouldn't upgrade the bins for no reason. Pivot bins use some of the extra overhead space that shelf bins waste.

Perhaps you are thinking about the pivot bins on the upper deck of the 744. The 777-style pivot bins hold a LOT more.

Maybe I am thinking the 763 pivot bins... my kettle sized suitcase had NO chance at those over the weekend while it fit snugly in the 763 bin.

What's small is old 767s bins. Pivot bins are way nicer (found on 777 LR)
Current 747 bins are fairly big for everyone, but getting a new look wouldn't be too bad.

Perhaps you are thinking of the center bins on the 763. Both the outboard and center 777/764-style bins hold more than the 763 center bins.

I was on an updated 744 msp-nrt last week (in Y) that had the new bins. I thought there was less space as I could not quite fit my roller in wheels first like I could with the old bins (over the center section of seats). But the cabin definately has a more open look and feel to it. Still needs AVOD and adjustable head rests though.

Good to know the interiors of the B744s will feel new.

The Pivot bins are the larger ones found on all 777 and 767-400ER models.
