abbreviations help

I'm relatively new here, and I'm bewildered by all of the various abbreviations I see in people's posts. Is there a glossary of terms somewhere on the site?

there are by FAR more abbreviations on this site than any other site i have ever been to, and frankly it kinda sucks for somebody new. Granted a lot of them are airport names, but even besides that there are a TON. Sorry, i have no help, i just google them and sometimes get lucky

There is a "Please Read First" thread at the top of the Delta Forum that includes a link to a quick glossary.

OK, I've been a FT'er for years on DL forum as a DM and.. how many more acronyms can I use? But I still don't know what a DO is. It's not in the glossaries and yet is referenced constantly even in the FT newsletters without explanation.

It is a get together of fellow FTers. An in person meeting.

Also, in terms of the airport codes, note that if you scroll down to the very bottom of FT (flyertalk), there is an airport code look-up. I use it frequently.

abbreviations

When I first started here years ago, I read the glossary. Many in the glossary are not used, and many more often used are not in the glossary. In other words not much help.

Many seem to use them to convince us how clever they are. And then there are probably others who like the challenge of figuring them out.

I remember encountering a medical abbreviation on the chart. No one could figure it out so the professor circled it and wrote - first prize.
