e-credit redemption... using for partial payment OK?

Visited the Delta site but didn't see an answer to this.. I have a $713 credit and an upcoming business flight for which I will be reimbursed up to $500.

Does anyone know if I can apply part of the $713 to buy an M class ticket for the MQM bonus and end up with a new charge of $500 or so?

The Delta site tells me that if I use the e-credit to buy a less expensive flight, the remainder is still available but that's all.

I was able to split a credit about a year ago, but it had to be done over the phone and it took about two hours. So it's probably still possible, but certainly a hassle.

Two hours, indeed. Better to wait and maybe use the entire amount toward a personal trip or an MR. Thanks for your note.

I just purchased a ticket today using an e-credit. It no longer needs to be done on the phone. You go to the reservation page to book a flight and towards the bottom you will see use voucher or ecredit, clcik on that and choose your voucher and then go and choose your flights, etc. Once this is done, it will apply the voucher towards the credit and then create a new credit for the remaining amount, which you can use the next ticket. I have several small credit, 4.31, 65.20, 73,.40 etc which are remaining balances from old vouchers.

Problem is that when you do this, it automatically uses the entire value of the credit. The OP only wants to use a part of its value for a ticket which exceeds the voucher's amount, paying the rest through another method.
