When to book?
I have been searching for the answer to this and having been unsuccessful am now seeking help - please be gentle!
DW and I would like to take a trip to England over Thanksgiving in 2011 using airmiles. Based on experience, is the best time to book when the flights become available for booking (ie at 330 days) or is there an optimum time to book.
We're going from DTW and happy to land at LGA, LHR or MAN. All advice gratefully received.
Thanks.

Well the rule is 330 prior to departure, but when booking in advance I always get the best deals on Saturdays in the am, I dont think you will get any good deals since you are flying on one of the busiest time of the year, may get a 10% savings on the tixs, but nothing greater than that.
Once again I have been wrong many times.
Happy bookings.

They way things are with Skymiles these days I don't think there is a correct answer to your question. Checking 330 days out often doesn't result in reasonable awards being available. I have had success with close in redemptions, even over busy travel times. I would check early and often, and when you see something you like, pounce.

OK, thanks for the input. Using this year as a reference there are still some low Skymiles flights available; hopefully we will luck out. Maybe a combination of Skymiles for one ticket and cash + miles as payment for the other.

DL Award Tickets to the U.K.
The key in my view is to check often, daily if you have a mind to do so. Things change rapidly and checking, checking, checking is best.
