FA announced number of DM, PM, GM & MM'ers

A new one for me. On landing in ATL (from PDX) FA welcomed everyone to Atlanta as usual then proceeded to announce the number of DM (3), PM (7) GM (9) & Million Milers on board. Thought it was an interesting announcement. 10 people, including me, were on the upgrade list who didn't get upgrades.

That's not quite true. They still need you for your money.

By ignoring FOs they figure there is that much more incentive to strive for GM. And with all the AmEx, double and triple mile offers - you can attain GM status by flying 25K miles or less. So in essence, GM *is* the new FO.

Not my money. I haven't sunken to the depths of FO since I joined FT. (although I did gift FO to my daughter this year)

I'm just observing that since DM was launched, FO seems to have faded from the corporate consciousness at DL.

How many MM were on board? Remember that some of them could be FOs.

When you say that ten missed upgrades, this should include FOs and companions on the list. Do you know how many were upgraded? Also, what was the aircraft and how many FC seats did it have.

I've been on flights where they announced the numbers of FFs, especially DMs and PMs. I've also sometimes asked, especially just after DM started, and the FAs seemed willing to tell. (Or you can count from the flight manifest if it's laying around and you read fast.)

Exact same thing happened on my JFK-LAX flight last week. This particular FA even made a point to describe what MM meant to the whole plane in great detail.

I would give avidflyer a break here; I don't there is any need for hostility.

Of course not. What he meant was if he asked on a number of flights, one would get an average, an idea, as to the number of DMs on a given flight.

Yes and thank you for flying cover! There were a lot of questions back when it was first announced and lots of FT'ers were curious what DM did to the bigger picture. Just anecdotal but I remember several folks reporting they asked and got similar numbers (2-6 most of the time). We eventually got the actual number from DL (though the fact it was reported was a mistake).

It's cool what the FA did, and totally out of character, but I figure it went over the heads of the Huh?-don't-care-in-the-least Kettles in back.

I wonder if there will be a situation where the FA will look at the manifest and say that this flight has 12 non-medallions the rest there are too many to mention
