Problem with ticket

I booked 2 one-way trips JFK-LAX, LAX-JFK returning same day online. (MR) I called delta (within the 24-hour refund/change policy) to change the outbound flight to a different one. I thought it might be better to do a round-trip instead (just in case any problems arise) and asked him to cancel them both (still in 24-hour period) and book me a round trip ticket. He said he did this for me. Anyway, I look online yesterday (now 4 days after booking) and I still have 2 one-ways on seperate tickets. SMS refused to help without me paying the $150 on BOTH tickets!! I feel cheated and lied to because the previous agent lied to me and said he made it into a round trip when he didnt. Any ideas on what to do?

You should have received an email confirmation after rebooking. If you have that, you should be able to call back and reference the details.

If no email, then probably nothing was booked (for whatever reason) and you are stuck.

I didn't check until I was outside the 24-hour window. And he did change the flight, he just didn't make it a round trip ticket like he told me it was.

Press the issue. DL can look at your record and see which SMS rep accessed your account and when. Plugging in your SM account # when you call creates a link to the rep that answers your call. That will help in resolving the issue to your satisfaction.

I don't know what kind of problems you are expecting. Many of my flts are o/w and I can't recall any benefit had it been one r/t tic except for the cost of changing 2 flts instead of 1.

Of course, if you have no problems.... then no harm, no foul.

Just an aside, there's a promo for the JFK-LAX route if you fly BE/prem economy...

Called delta. They apologized but said that they couldn't do anything about it now. In case of irops, how will having 2 one-way tickets affect me?

If your outbound is late and you miss your return, you will not be protected. You will have to rebook it and pay any fare difference. But when you get home you might be able to push the issue on the agent not changing your original ticket to RT. I wouldn't count on a refund but you might get some miles.
