Would this work?

Planning on purchasing this on one ticket. NYC based traveler.

10/15: BNA-LGA (U)
11/22: JFK-FCO (I)
11/28: FCO-JFK (I)
12/21: LGA-BNA (U)

Then I would use 25k miles to fly to the south and back in conjunction with the BNA flights.

Thus, I would get ~33,000 MQM and ~78,000 RDM (including Delta Amex bounceback) on two trips to the south and a trip to Italy in business all for $1,997 and 25,000 miles.

Is there anything wrong with this approach? Mainly concerned that the domestic connections into/out of NYC are at LGA and the departure to rome is from JFK.

Thanks

Want to make sure I am interpreting this correctly: you will use 25k miles to position to BNA, and then fly the listed itinerary? Based on other posts in this thread, I'm thinking that the breaking down of the journey might mean that you'd only get credit for the BNA-LGA-BNA trip--but someone here might have personal experience with this situation whereas I don't.

Regardless, enjoy the trip!

Thanks...but does anyone have actual knowledge of this? I mean... it's one ticket. I don't see any restrictions in the promotion about stopovers. It's a ticket beginning and ending in BNA. I'm not going to take the trip without getting the 50,000 bonus miles and the double MQM.

Need to figure this out soon so I know whether the trip is worth it.

Many thanks!

I've been following this thread, and I have seen no one report on success (or failure) of DMQM on a routing with stopovers. The T&C say you need to fly a round trip. I believe we have Kevin Pinto on record saying open jaws are OK, but nothing about routings like you've suggested has been confirmed. I agree with cmn.js that DL.dum is likely to see only the BNA-LGA r/t and not double the rest. You might try asking Kevin about this routing, as I'm sure lots of people would like to know something definitive.

I'm about to book several open jaws out of (and returning to) one of the target cities. Can anyone confirm actually receiving the bonus RDMs and double EQMs for an open jaw? Tnx!

A similar but different question:

Since each promotion is separate, a reverse open jaw using two of the target cities (e.g., RDU-LAX-PIT) would not qualify for bonuses, right?

I tend to agree. If the promotion had all four cities (BNA, STL, PIT, RDU) together under one code, I would think it would qualify (unless forbidden in the rules). But, they are separate promotions with separate registration codes.

Again, thank you.

And, any other experiences out there? Surely someone else has flown on a route with a bonus originating/ending in BNA, STL, etc., no?
Okay, I just returned from R/T PIT - HKG (via DTW). My original post questioned since 2 promotions were being impacted "new international markets" DTW - HKG double/triple files bonus (exp 9/30) and "hub city" promotion (this thread). I just reviewed my miles and seems like I received BOTH promotions! Fly economy outbound (fortunately plane was near empty so got 3 seats for decent sleeping) and used upgrade coupon for M/Z class).

PIT - HKG (economy)
MQM: (7850 + 500) x 2 for "hub cities" promo = 16,700 MQM
Miles: (7850 + 500) x 1.25 DE bonus +12,500 "hub cities" + 7850 "new int'l markets" = 39,128 miles
HKG - PIT (BE using upgrade coupon)
MQM: [(7850 + 500) + 50% class of service] x 2 for "hub cities" promo = 25,050 MQM
Miles: (7850 + 500) x 1.25 DE bonus + 50% class of service bonus +12,500 "hub cities" + 7850 "new int'l markets" = 43,313 miles

Total MQM = 41,750
Total Miles = 82,974
Ticket cost $1900

Good promo, helped me qualify for renewed status, plan to do one more in November ($950 but no upgrades). Still, Delta got me to buy this ticket just for points, not for business trip or vacation. Win-win?

I asked Kevin via email and will update the group if he gets back to me on the stopovers question.

Great news... Kevin tells me that a ticket with stop-overs does indeed qualify for the promo. The international segments in my example above will get the bonus as well.

^ Nice! Thanks for coming back and posting the results.

I wish FT had a wiki so we could post these details for everyone who will have the same question but won't wade through 900+ posts.

I just registered for this promo, do my prev trips count?

I just signed up for this promo but I've already had about 6 trips from ATL - RDU in July and August. Will those trips qualify for the promo? My concern is that I just signed up for this today...

Nope, have to register before the promo. Also, the T&C suggest that the bonus should only be applied for travel starting from the promo cities, not to the promo cities. Some have reported receiving the bonus for travel to the promo cities only to have it subsequently revoked.
