Three of my flights last week were through MSP and each one had issues getting a gate agent to operate the jetway. Is this something others have noticed? One flight was mainline, one was Compass and one was Mesaba and each had a 10-15 minute wait at the gate before the door was opened.

Everything came into C or F. It was mainline GAs working the mainline and Compass gates and a Mesaba GA on the Mesaba flight. I too have had good experiences in MSP which is why last week surprised me.Originally Posted by bkmn
MSP is usually pretty good, as far as the gate agent availability, in my experience. Though the two feeder flights (Compass/Mesaba) could have been on concourse A or B where the GA's are stretched thin.
Is it the Gate Agent that operates the gate (ie. I presume its the jetway that has to be moved into position as opposed to the actual gate being opened) or ground crew. I have noticed that it tends to be an issue that ground crew is not in position if a flight is early or late.

Gate agent operates the jetways (ground crew doesn't touch this), while the ground crew does all the below wing stuff (bags, chocks, marshalling the plane in, etc.).Originally Posted by Nugget_Oz
