Upgrade Availability

Is there any way to find out whether there are seats in the upgrade fare class (i.e. V) on delta flights without calling Delta Res? Specifically I am looking at 1057 on 2/23 and 1054 on 2/25.

Thanks!

1054 has 6 V seats on 2/25

For some reason I can't get 1057 to pull up, not sure why.

+1. See recent discussion here. I wish FT would take an official position to discourage this practice. It's easy to be generous with EF's money, since EF has to pay a fee for each query.

So, I've noticed that DL seems to zero out availability 2-3 days before the flight. For instance, I noticed a Sat flight MSP-MCO was F8A7 (which would correspond to what NWA-ers used to know as P8F7). Then, yesterday it zeroed out to F0A0.

Now, it is possible that the flight sold out, but the rest of the class availability also zeroed out (i.e. Y0B0H0 etc).

Is this something DL does different from NW? Primarily, I used to watch PxFx for chances of UG but with DL zeroing it out I can't imagine that the seats are really sold. Does DL do this to sell UG's? Perhaps the inventory management practices T-3 days is much different.

Any thoughts?

If you're referring to THIS Saturday, 2/13 - there's a good chance those were reaccomodated passengers that have been caught up in the earlier storm that hit JFK or the one today in ATL.

Either that, or they're actually selling the seats in FC, which is a good thing from a financial perspective... at least for DL.

Don't forget seatcounter.com -- it's free, albeit somewhat clunky with failed queries and a daily search limit, but it works great for the most part

Confusing upgrade status

I am generally pleased with my upgrades. However, I am puzzled by the following:
1. Never been able to get upgrades from my home town Columbus, Ohio. I feel that CMH agents discriminate.
2. In Atlanta, had my name on top of the list with 2 seats available marked. Suddenly, the entire wait list disappeared. When I asked, the gate agent said all seats were taken and asked me to board when my row was announced. Yet, immediately after I boarded and comfortably seated, the FA came to my seat and said that I was upgraded!
3. When I travel with my wife, even if an upgrade is available, the gate agent assumes that we both need upgrades and penalises me by not including me. My wife and I are mature enough to be separated for a couple of hours if one of us could be upgraded.
4. May be I am invisible or insecure in first class. Perhaps, I am too thin for the wide first class seats that I often cringe to one end of the seat!
