computer outage

Sitting here in DTW waiting on my flight to leave to atlanta and they are telling us there is some FAA server outage and they can't do a flight plan - yet it seems NW flights are leaving. Anyone run into this today?

ATCSCC isn't reporting anything on a national level...might be a DL thing?

If it was just a delta thing the pilot is lying to us which id be pissed about. Supposedly flight plans made before a certain time can continue. It looks like it may be a nasty day in DL land.

I see that our flights are experiencing the same thing in ATL but DL doesn't make our flight plans, so must be FAA related.

Typical government - critical system and no backup. The airlines should sue for lost revenue.

I got bit by this too; currently sitting on the ground in CHS trying to get to Atlanta. Pilot indicated a delay of "at least 20 minutes."

Looking at ATL flight departures, there are a number of cancelled flights to LaGuardia, Newark, Washington DC, Baltimore etc.

Flight arrivals are also delayed. My normal flight from RDU is running 2 hrs behind this morning.

Since this has direct utility only for those flying planes, perhaps the U.S. airlines should stop dragging their feet and agree to fund, in part, the NextGen navigation systems.

Yeah, that'd be a good idea. And then the damage award would be paid by taxpayers...which of course includes you, me and the airlines themselves.

I am betting that 20 minutes turns into more than 20 minutes.
