Diminished First Class Fare

Sorry for the use of a bad pun, but I am puzzled. I have not taken a flight in about 2 months and was in First class last night, from RDU-MSP. I was looking forward to getting some yummy Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps, as I have become slightly addicted to these over the last few months. I was surprised that the FA had none, just Delta mini pretzels. No Twix, no fruit, no way!

Is this just a fluke, or is this the new life? I was not able to ask the FA, so I thought I would ask here...

Probably just an aberration - unless we've been "enhanced."

I, too, have grown to love the pretzel chips. I heard a while ago that they were going away in favor of Sun Chips

Funny you say that, it seems Sun Chips are always the first items to run out of in the basket. On my flight today, they had to reload 'em 3 times!

On last night's flight from atl-fll, i had both the delicious pretzels and sunchips, along with apples, bananas, twix, and biscoffs. This was the first flight in a long time where the pretzels were back.

On my LGA-CVG RT last Wednesday to Friday, both of the snack baskets had the full complement however, instead of the pretzel chips, they had the Sun Chips.

worst cold breakfast

Flying from DTW to FLL, about 2 hours and 45minutes, I was expecting a choice of hot or cold breakfast....but nope, cold breakfast only.

There was a rather small portion of cheerios (or possibly imitation variety), small and hard/dried sesame bagel, breyers low fat yogurt, and a bowl of fruit. Bowl of fruits contained two slices of cantelope (ok), about 8 pieces of grapes, and two rotten pieces of strawberries. The inside of these strawberries were brown, rather than red/white.

I probably would have been happy with the fruit bowl, in addition to the banana and a cereal but I felt my food lacked first class amenities..... I know I wouldn't have PAID first class fare to obtain this....

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.5.0.81 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

For NYC locals, Fresh Direct now carries the pretzel chips.

On my Oct 7 flights (NW), I asked about why they had Sun Chips in the snack basket. The lead FA said: they are a PepsiCo product and they have to continue to use the PepsiCo products because of the contract that NW had with them. Since they now serve CocaCola drinks, this is how they are fulfilling their PepsiCo contractual obligations. Hence ... the Sun Chips.

As a cost saving move, most airlines these days (incuding DL) only cater their planes at their hubs if the flight is doing an out-and-back flight with no meal service. The downside is that an exceptionaly hungary (or thirsty) outbound flight means that they run out on the return. Also, the RDU-MSP is still a NW operated flight so I don't know if they follow the catering standards of mainline DL.

Good point, as with most things in this merger, time will tell!
