You may not want to eat at "local places" since the quality and variety of what is available is often quite poor. YMMV Most importantly, though, you want to stay healthy when traveling.

Average prices at places I eat in are 7 pesos. And the food is great. I have even eaten for 1 peso and not gotten sick. But just avoid the soups or in some places their salads. And never eat anything breaded, its all old meat!
