Dogs on Board?

Do any of the major cruise lines ever allow dogs on board, or I should say on deck? I've taken a number of cruises and have never seen a dog, but I am wondering if the cruise lines ever have special sailings for pet lovers.@:-)

Does Cunard offer a Kennel programme?

Queen Mary 2’s kennel programme is available on all crossings between New York and Southampton in either direction, and is overseen by a full-time Kennel Master who takes care of responsibilities such as feeding, walking and cleaning the ship’s 12 spacious kennels. Travelling dogs and cats also receive a complimentary gift pack and other animal amenities. The kennels and adjacent indoor and outdoor walking areas are open throughout the day, enabling passengers to spend significant time with their pet. Reservations for the kennels may be made at time of booking, and are based on space availability. Contact Cunard for fees and additional requirements.

Sounds like that's the only regular cruise line that does. The other option is charter. this page on pet travel was informative.

Service dogs I'm sure would be allowed on any large cruise line. I think I remember reading some travel reports from people how had service dogs on their cruise, and the issues involved.

A dog cruise could give a whole new meaning to the "poop" deck.

Too many encounters with the poop deck might result in a cry of "Dog Overboard!"

Except as mentioned in kennels, no dogs allowed but service animals.

Let's keep it that way. I am allergic to dogs and find them as annoying as some others find children or smokers. Whay should my vacation be ruined by some dog howling in the next room while the owners are out for the evening?

Why would anyone want to take their dog on a cruise?????
He wouldn't be allowed in most places and would be cooped up most of time.
