Like the airlines and hotels, has anyone ever attempted to get their status matched on another cruise line?

I've done searches and haven't found any threads here or on cruisecritic.com.

Your experiences would be appreciated.

That is the key phrase. Cunard World Club (CWC) has NO transference. Very little within the other programs, although all are owned by the same parent company.

However, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean-Captain's Club and Crown and Anchor respectively, extend perks to each other's elites at the same level. Again, same parent company.

What I believe the OP was really asking-is elite status interchangeable between companies??? NO, not in the way you can ask for status match with the airlines.

My hunch is that this will never happen as long as cruise bennies are offered on a lifetime as opposed to a rolling basis. It serves the airline well to try and woo you away from a competitor, because if you have elite status then they know that you've spent a lot of time and money on air travel in the past year. And if you don't live up to your end of the bargain, your elite status wears off after just a year. There is no benefit to a cruise company matching your status earned through what could have been years of sporadic activity. You would now be "elite" forever on both cruise lines.

Point well taken. I'm Platinum with Princess and I thought it would be pretty cool to see how it matched up with HAL, Celebrity, etc.

I was just on Seabourn in March, and a couple who was Cunard Plat (many times over I'm sure) received an OW upgrade.

Another guy who was Cunard Plat (again many times over I'm sure) got the biggest OW for less than the usual 2X single supplement. Not sure what though.

Go for it! I think you'll find the experience on HAL and X to be a bit more upscale than on Princess, but the only way to find out is to do a cruise for yourself.

Frequent cruiser perks are quite a bit more limited than those offered by hotels and airlines. The experience you get on Holland America will be equally excellent on your first cruise and your fiftieth, for example. You may give up a cocktail party and free internet (for example; I don't know what Princess platinum actually gets you), but to a large extent your cruise experience is dependent on the cruise line and the itinerary, not any perks.

I am Platinum on Celebrity/RCCL. On my last cruise, we were invited to board first with someone walking us on and welcoming us. We were invited to a private brunch one morning, several cocktail parties, recieved a gift at the end of the cruise and best of all, on morning of departure, were invited to a private room where we were guided off ahead of the other passengers.

Additionally, we recieved coupon books with discounts for drinks, photos, and match-play in the casino including the aforementioned discounts on internet use and other things.

In any case, I appreciated the amenities and would sail with them again anytime. However I must also say that several lines I thought would be horrible turned out to be much better than expected, such as Carnival.

Mike, We have status with Celebrity (6 or 7 cruises), and we're going on an RCCL ship next year. Our TA got us equal status for that cruise. I imagine you can get it if you ask.

Between Celebrity and RCCL it is in their club rules that elites are matched.

Just keep in mind that status is matched, but status must be earned on one of their lines.

3 cruises on Royal Caribbean and 2 on Celebrity will not make you a platinum. You have to do 5 on either Royal Caribbean or Celebrity. Once you earn status, you will be granted the equivalent status on the other line once you make a deposit on a cruise.

(I'm Platinum on Royal Caribbean, but Celebrity wouldn't give me Elite status until I actually booked a cruise on one of their ship.)
