Celebrity Mercury
I rescently cruised on the Jewel of the Seas and had an AMAZING time. I am now booked on the Celebrity Mercury. Does anyone know what the standard of service is on the Mercury? How is the food, entertainment, Kid's stuff, pools, rooms etc etc
Thanks Very Much

I don't have much info to share, but since no one else has responded....
I cruised once with Celebrity, on their ship Zenith. The food and service were excellent. The staff could not have been more attentive or accomodating. The entertainmnet was rather ho-hum in our opinion, but certainly didn't diminish our good time.
We would definitely cruise with Celebrity again.
Have fun!

We sailed on the Mercury in February 2001 for our honeymoon. We loved it. We were assigned a 6-person table in the main dining room with other pax from our geographic area. The food was first rate, there was a wine sommelier and I recall there were some formal nights (black tie). There are other food opportunities: 24-hr room service; a cafeteria; a snack bar featuring pizza; and several bars. There is a spa, a casino, a reading room, a theater featuring live entertainment, and shops. There is a kids' area and child care is available. There are pools, jacuzzis, and exercise rooms featuring the latest equipment. We enjoyed the shore excursions. Our room had a balcony, and a TV with satellite CNN and ESPN. I would enjoy crusiing on the Mercury again and would highly recommend it.

I've been on three Celebrity cruises. Twice on Galaxy and once on Mercury. Mercury was my favourite of the two and we are on her again in October doing the Mexican Riviera.
Celebrity in general is a more formal line than RCL and perhaps a bit more sedate. Having said that, our friends children had a wild time in the kids club on Galaxy. So much so they hardly ever saw them! Service has been uniformly excellent on all our sailings with them. The staff and crew always greet you and say hello if they pass you. It doesn't sound much, but it makes you feel good.
Food in the dining room when we were on Mercury in '02 was excellent. Galaxy last year and the year before was very good, but not excellent. Buffets are good too and the pizza and pasta very tasty. They have a sushi bar. Never tried that.
In summary, I think you will love Mercury. She is tastefully and warmly decorated with some very interesting artwork (some say strange ). Not glitzy like some ships, but no worse for that.
Enjoy your cruise.
