I overheard a tv news story on an Orlando station this morning that Disney is getting ready to sail out of Port Everglades. I don’t know if this is a regularly scheduled cruise or a test. They showed the ship docked in the distance.
ETA: it is a 2 night test trip. It was mentioned in our local newspaper.

The 11th Circuit has ordered a stay of Judge Merryday's decision, so the CDC's rules are still in place and Florida cannot enforce its ban on vaccination requirements. For now.

The decision has been made
Hi fellow cruiseophiles. Asking for a reality check here as I am contemplating getting on a cruise with Mrs747FC.
Facts:
10-day Silversea Alaska Cruise
Departure September
Silversea claims all passengers and staff are vaccinated
COVID testing before boarding
We will buy a larger suite with large balcony to enable us to isolate from others as desired.
SIlversea says masks are optional onboard (we would plan to wear when not eating or outside).
If we purchased today, we would have about three weeks to cancel for future cruise credit. After that, we would hardly get anything back.
We figure that combined with the all-vax and testing requirements, being that we are traveling within the USA adds an element of safety and access to medical care.
What do you think: Too soon to travel or an acceptable risk profile?
Thanks for your input.

This is a good news, bad news post. The good news is that tomorrow (July 23) Mrs K graduate from the US Army War College with a Masters in Strategic Studies. The bad news we haven’t been able to book her dream cruise to the Baltic and St Petersburg as her graduation gift. At this point we have absolutely no idea when that might happen. A further complication is that the word got out she was graduating from this highly regarded Army program and a DoD agency reached out to see if she would join them. She said yes and they are going through the process of moving her. That’s always good news as it is an important position with promotion potential. The bad news is that this is a brand new organization and they want her to help them put together the organization from basically nothing. Means extended vacations may be an issue in the near future. The good news is that we’re not sure this is exactly the time we want to venture out into the world considering the uncertainty of Covid and the variants. The bad news is the world is still in this two steps forward one step back with Covid.

Congrats on the graduation and new position! Sympathy over the impact on your vacation prospects. I'm still praying that my wife follows through on her retirement this year so that we can jump on vacation opportunities whenever they arise. Perhaps like your wife, mine is so skilled that she keeps on getting interesting and lucrative promotional opportunities that somehow out-compete vacationing in a pandemic-filled world.

Carnival now requiring negative Covid test prior to embarkation and masks in indoor areas for all including vaccinated on sailings through Oct 31 https://www.cnn.com/travel/amp/carni...ent/index.html Carnival Vista also has positive cases. Similar mask and test policy for Carnival owned Princess and HAL.
Several mass market lines require a negative Covid test to board, including for vaccinated people https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/5497690001
There have been other positives on cruise ships since the last update. One woman opted to livestream her disembarkation. She seemed rather livid and confrontational. She was flown back on a charter flight but I'm not sure how long the cruise lines will cover such transport.

Holland America Line
Vaccination against COVID-19 is required for all guests aboard any Holland America cruise in 2021, regardless of age.

The Royal Caribbean family is also requiring vaccinations for all non-Florida departures. From Florida, anyone not volunteering their vaccination status (since the cruise lines can't ask) will be required to have COVID insurance and be heavily restricted onboard and at ports.
