Redeem miles or points for cruises?
Trying to decide what is the best route to book a family cruise trip.
I have points for united, ba, starwood, thank you points.
i have amex plati, business gold, starwood, united club card, citi premier, chase sapphire.
i dont mind going either way, paying or using points. just would like advice on if any of these credit cards/point programs are good for cruises?
thanks

I dont believe you can use any miles to pay for a cruise.
Not sure about TYP option. You would need to check it out on TYP site to see if there is a possibility.
In general even if you can, you would get a better pricing going thru a cruise only agent preferably a volume agent who can really give you a better price.
As for paying, it is up to you to decide WHICH reward earning is more valuable to you, then use that reward card to pay. Also make sure whether cruise is classified as travel just like airlines and hotel rooms as some of your cards do have bonus points in travel related charges.

You can pay for cruises through several of the more popular programs, but the redemption rates are atrocious.
Also, there are a few points earning cards out there - RCCI and NCL spring to mind.
Best thing you could do though, is pay good old cash money (through a portal, using a points earning card) on a consolidator site.
2 things that could help you out here:
1. Tell us where you want to go, on what line, and when.
2. Have a mod kindly move this to the Cruise sub forum.
