cruises on Choice web page
We are thinking of taking a cruise in January 2010 and booking it through Choice Hotels. The price dropped this week from $409 for 7 day western caribbean out of galvaston to $389. Am I wise to book now? Seems like a decent price and we can drive from our Texas winter home to Galvaston so no plane fare will be involved.

Cruises are interesting animals. You book it now and lock in the price. You don't have to pay until a couple months before the sailing, so you can always back out if you want.
If the price goes up, you are protected, you locked in a lower price.
If the price goes down, in many cases (but not all) you can just ask and get the lower price. Even after you have paid it in full, you can sometimes get a cabin credit.
There's little risk in booking a cruise when you see a good price, it can only go down.
They can tack on a fuel charge if the price of oil passes some number they set, but the rate won't go up.

Since the question is primarily about cruise pricing, rather than an offer co-branded with Choice hotels, I'll move this to the Cruise forum.

Actually, the increase is set to happen on March 22, and it is "up to" 5%. NCL has also announced an up to 7% increase in early April.
