Cruise survey - school assignment, please help!
I need to interview someone who has taken a cruise before.
I would really really appreciate it if someone could answer these questions.
Thank you very, very much in advance! I will love you forever!!
--------------------------
Do you know at least one person who has taken a cruise?
Interview that person by using the questions below.
Summarize that person's answers in the spaces given.
It doesn't matter whether you've cruised or not.
The purpose of this exercise is to explore someone else's perceptions.
1. What cruise or cruises have you taken?
2. What was the most important reason you decided to try out cruising?
3. What were the other motives you had for cruising?
4. Were you reluctant in any way about taking a cruise?
What caused this reluctance? Did the actual cruise change your mind?
5. Now that you've tried out cruising, what's the best thing about it?
6. Do you plan to take another cruise? If yes, what kind of cruise will it be?
(Destination, cruise line, number of days.)

okay, sphere....you've been on the boards awhile...
We are in our mid-50's. First cruise was on the Carnival FESTIVALE back in 1986. My mom & dad had enjoyed several cruises on Carnival & NCL and suggested we try one. Kwaj boy "didn't think he'd like it" (no particular reason) but I pormised him that if he'd go just this once & REALLY didn't like it, I'd never mention that 6-letter word again. Another couple sailed with us - they almost didn't make it to the Miami pier because they were arguing all the way (a 3-hour drive from where we lived at the time). But we all had a good time on this 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. Ports of call were new to us as was the entire cruise experience. Drinks weren't all that expensive back then and we enjoyed the food & entertainment on board. A year later we tried the CUNARD COUNTESS on a Southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan. Had a blast then, too especially with watersports. Living in Florida, it was easy to get to pretty much any FL cruise port in a reasonable amount of time, especially Port Canaveral which was less than an hour away. We did everything from short 2-night weekend cruises to longer 12-night Mediterranean voyages. When we moved to Kwajalein we had easy access to Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand & Asia to satisfy our cruise hunger. Now that we're in AL we still cruise as many days as we get for vacation time each year. The fact that I'm a travel agent helps immensely! We've graduated from small inside cabins on mass-market cruiselines, to verandah staterooms on premium cruiselines, and now prefer suites such as the ultra-luxe Queens Grille accommodations on the QM2, or verandah suiites on luxury "all-inclusive" lines such as Silversea and Regent. Since 1986 we have been fortunate to enjoy over 60 cruises pretty much all over the world...except for Antarctica. And yes, that's on our bucket list. Our upcoming reserved voyages include a Caribbean voyage next month on Silversea, I'll be acting as a tour escort on a Carnival ship next April for a well-known Service Club, next October takes us to the Eastern Med on a Princess ship with a select group of my clients, and then on to Cunard's latest new-build, the Queen Elizabeth, for one of her European Maiden Season voyages. <Looks like we enjoy cruising, huh?>

Kwaj girl, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! ^
That is exactly what I needed.
I have never taken a cruise before, but been taking travel classes and learning about cruise. I've traveled a lot but never cruised. Cruise is never a big market in Japan where I grew up.
What you described is exactly what they say in the text book, being reluctant at first but love it after. I am now convinced, I just have to convince my reluctant husband!
Thank you again very much, Kwaj girl.
Best regards from Tokyo,
sphere

I've sailed on Costa, Dolphin, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Carnival etc. Our first cruise was the first time my husband would leave his business. He didn't want to go, but on the second day he said to me "If I ever give you a hard time about going on vacation, remind me of how I feel at this moment."
We've gone to the Bahams, eastern caribbean, western caribbean, southern caribbean, panama canal, guatemala and parts of south america.
Cruising allows one to travel without packing and unpacking, it allows you to know what your costs will pretty much be with no surprises, it's a great way to meet new people from all over the world, and provides one with food, lodging, entertainment, gambling, touring, and best of all, nothing, if you so choose. All this at affordable prices.
Will I cruise again.....you bet....to Europe and to Australia.

there seem to be 2 kinds of cruisers.....those that want to visit the cities and countries [and like the shipboard amenities, like not having to pack & unpack every stop].....or those that rarely get off the ship [one couple had been on 35 cruises, all in the carribean]....
we have been on 31 [i went solo to the antarctic].....we can't find any that have more than 1 or 2 new ports/countries, so probably won't go again.....
our 1st cruise was miami-nassau in 1960.....the others circa 1978-2005.....
we like the small ships.....have been on 80-2000 pax ships, but about 25 were on 600 pax and smaller with most under 250....
good luck w/ the project....
