I know you really want the LH part of the answer but I can't offer anything there.
I will say I've successfully churned a lot of US Airways branded Barclays cards. They're just not letting me get any new cards right now, consistently denying me for already having a card. But that stems from their buyout of BofA customers is what I'm told and I simply have to wait - they can't tell me for how long though.

i guess you'd have to cancel your one card first before trying to reapply

My wife's application was denied some months ago. She had had and canceled her Barclays Lufthansa card and had at the time -- and still has -- a Barclays US Airways card. She applied for the Barclays Lufthansa shortly after canceling it. The application was denied because she had too many credit card pulls (about a dozen in the past year) for Barclays' liking, even though her credit score, credit utilization rate, and payment history are stellar.
She (actually I did, as she prefers to let me play the churning games) asked for reconsideration. I explained we didn't want more credit, just this card, and we would gladly close her open US Airways card if we could move the credit from it over. But Barclays, after pulling from multiple agencies (this was a second hard pull), denied her request. The Barclays rep also cited her lack of use of her Barclays card (after doing the required spending to hit bonuses, we don't continue using those cards) and suggested we develop a history of using Barclays cards before applying for another.
The Barclays reps were polite and professional. But, based on our experience and those of others I have read, it seems Barclays has tightened up and made it very difficult to churn these cards.
