Question on Autopay

Question on Autopay
If I make a payment manually online the day before autopay is supposed to pay, will the autopay know not to 'engage'? Does your payment have to clear with the bank for Autopay to know your balance is zero ?

On my Citi MC, it will still automatically "engage", regardless of any payments made after the closing date, unless you call to cancel. IIRC, even if you call, Citi needs more than a day to undo the autopay. Don't know about other cards.
