Need card recommendation

My girlfriend just got a new job where she'll be driving all over the state. So obviously we need to get her a good gas card. She doesn't currently have any rewards cards, so we're going to take this opportunity to get her set up with the right cards for all her spending. The other main expenses she has are grocery stores and dining. The hotels, unfortunately, will go on a corporate card.

If she goes with a program card, she belongs to Hilton, Marriott, and United.

So, any of those 3, or cash back, or TY points would work.

We'd like to do it all with one card, but I'm leaning towards the Citi Driver's Edge. That card isn't elgible for fixed pt flights(unless I read wrong), so I'm thinking she could add the Professional card which would take care of the dining and also make her elgible for fixed pt redemptions.

Anyone have a better idea?

Follow-up.

I just read that the Driver's Edge card is for vehicles used for personal use. Would it not work with a company car?

Can you estimate how much annual spending will be, how long it will take to be reimbursed and annual mileage? Does she have or want Hilton status?

Well, she just emailed me and said she got the Hilton Amex, which is probably the best one for her.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union has a nice cash back Visa card. 5% for pay-at-the-pump gasoline purchases and 1.25% on all other purchases.

She needs a second card, from a different issuer, because there will be merchants who do not accept American Express or her card may be damaged, lost, stolen, frozen, etc.

She has a MC with no rewards from WaMu that she'll use as a backup. She's working her way back from bad credit, which is why she had no rewards cards before (mostly used debit card). She got approved instantly for the Hilton Amex so that's good news. Once we see what her spending pattern is like, we'll figure out what the best secondary card is. At this point I'm thinking Chase Freedom since we don't know where here non-Amex spending will be concentrated.

It seems to me they (Citi) would have no idea whether she's pumping gas into her own car or the company car.

The Citi Platinum Amex is one of the best offers out there right now. Five thank you points for gas/grocery/drug and three on everything else for the first 24 months. Annual fee is waived for first year, $99 after. If you redeem the points for flights, you can pretty easily get 1.5 cents of value per point. 15K points bonus on signup too.

She would still need a second card for coverage where Amex is not accepted.
