HHonors Bonus Pts question

Hello Everyone,

So 2 months ago I applied for the Hhonors Visa Signature and was denied and given an Visa Hhonors platinum card with the same signup bonus and a preset credit limit. My question is Citi recently changed their website and now you get 3 ppd for gas and groceries and 6ppd for Hilton stays compared to the standard 2ppd that it used to be for all purchases. Is this new earning schedule only for new applicants or do those of us with older accounts just earn at this new rate?

Looks like Citi finally enhanced HH Visa but it's still short of HH AmEx though...

why do you say its still short of the amex? the amex only offers 5 pts/dollar on hilton stays, so the visa beats it by 20%.

if you're talking about the 500 amex pts/stay, that does not beat using the eadvantage site for your bookings and getting the double points promo that is currently on.

The Hilton Amex is better because you earn 3 pts/$ on EVERY SINGLE PURCHASE and 5 pts/$ on:

Restaurants
Supermarkets
Drugstores
Gas Stations
U.S. Postal Service
Wireless phone bills

The Citi version might be better for Hilton stays but the Amex beats it hands down!

The other question is on the Hilton's website in the credit card section, it lists that the AMEX holder has Silver VIP status for the duration of holding the card http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/about/creditamex.do, but Citi Visa Signature only gives it for the first year http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/about/creditvisa.do. Granted, the Hilton's website is out-dated.

I looked very briefly at the Citi application page, but it's sort of obscure and so not sure if it's now the same treatment as Hilton AMEX in giving automatic Silver status for the duration of holding the card. It says "complimentary upgrade to Silver status." Probably should ask before applying.. http://hhonorscard.com/us/cards/card...GFGPHW0R5D02P]

I'd rather use a 5% cash back card on the supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations, and then have the no fee HH amex for the postal service and phone bills and restaurants.

It's not a crime to use more than 1 credit card, and I make sure to maximize my credit card earning and would be more than willing to carry both cards.

If someone spends 10K a year at hiltons, that's another 10,000 HH points if using the Citi HH. Which isn't that bad.
