Anyone used or known someone who has used any such as Personal Concierge International ($4K/yr+) or Bluefish ($5K/yr+) ?

I'm specifically wondering how their ability to obtain restaurant reservations and event tickets (and ticket price) compare to Centurion / Chairman.

What do you mean by mid-tier? I'd say Chairman was a mid-tier concierge (at $400/year). $4k or $5K per year sounds like upper-tier to me. I mean, add one more zero, and you might as well just hire a full-time personal assistant...

From my associates, thebluefish will get you into places that a credit card concierge cannot, i.e. exclusive parties and events, not just popular events. However, thebluefish costs more.

Low tier - Quintessentially and JD
Mid tier - Personal Concierge International and Bluefish
Upper tier - Mint and Preferred (15K+ and 24K+ respectively)

you can pay more to these companies and they will act as a PA. (hence the +)

chairman card can act as a PA, but not give you access to exclusive events, nor relationships with high value vendors designed to sway high value clients into choosing them over a competitor. (think RC Centurion ratecode)

thats what the new card (seems like US release of Ultima) from CITI will probably do, but its yet to be seen.

it was interesting, i compared the miami vice LA premiere. AX Plat wanted $2750, Quintessentially wanted GBP1900. Since they book in UK, it works out better if you live there, but otherwise, AX is better.

it's nice seeing a fair amount of information on Quintessentially's site, and I had some experience with them when I flew EOS recently.

have heard JD is superior to Quintessentially, but not details on how so.

i'll probably end up getting JD through one of their partnerships.

i guess it might be most effective to shop the mid-tiers once I've used it.

i doubt Mint or Preferred would ever want me as a member, but the mid-tier is definitely something i'd like to hear more about.

(too bad focus of reviews/publicity/etc seems to be on high or low ends )

Just noticed on PCI's site they said they arranged dinner for 10 at Per Se for a client. IIRC the Centurion concierge has not been able to do this.

edit - i remembered incorrectly. :P one poster said they have gotten reservations at Per Se and Le Bernadin, and one said they have not been able to. the reservations made were "not short notice" though.

Any updates/recent experiences?

Am using Amex Plat now but their continuing sub-par performance is really putting me off.

merrill+3 = probably centurion concierge (circles) = $0
quintessentially = $1500 (you could ask drdave for comparison to cent)
bluefish = $5K

On the topic of Bluefish, as posted in another thread they are going through some legal problems right now. Creditors suing the owner for unpaid bills of $300K+.

The people who spun off and started "Bluefish Sales" will ultimately be (if they aren't already) competitors of "Bluefish Concierge". They actually will be changing their name in the near future to avoid confusion. But Bluefish Sales does not have an annual fee. It's a first come/first serve service and you pay by the event (which are not cheap).

Recent events that I've been offered and/or attended:

Academy Awards (seat in 1st 10 rows) + Elton John after party = ~$40,000/person
Vanity Fair Oscar After Party = ~$12,000/person
Golden Globes = ~$7,500/person
Various Playboy mansion parties = $2000-$4000/person, depending on party
Spiderman 3 NYC premiere(4/30/07) + official after party = ~$3000/person
Ocean's 13 World Premiere(5/25/07) in Cannes + official after party with cast = ~$7200-~7800/person
Tribeca Film Fest Platinum pass (includes VIP access to all events and parties) = ~$7000/PAIR
Entourage Premiere and official after Party (4/5/07) = ~$3000/person

I am not a reseller, nor am I affiliated in any way with them. They are focused on the hard/impossible to get events. You wouldn't use them for dinner reservations and the basic things that any other concierge could do given a few basic resources.
