mileage plus platinum visa miles calculation

I did a search but could not find the answer to my questions. I recently upgraded my mileage plus visa signature to the new mileage plus platinum visa. My first statement closed in mid August.

My questions are: 1) should my total miles earned = miles earned from everyday purchases (doubled) + miles earned from all other purchases (1:1); and 2) miles earned from everyday purchases (before doubling) + miles earned from all other purchases = my net monthly purchases?

The statement broke out the miles between "miles earned from everyday purchases" (before adding the double miles) and "miles earned this statement from purchases." The sum of the two does not add up to my net purchases for the month. I called Chase customer service several times but they did not seem to understand the issue. They insisted the miles were correct.

Here is an example of what Chase calculated my mileage to be for the month:

Net purchases for the month: $1,000 (my calculation based on purchases less credits)

Miles earned from everyday purchases: 300
Miles earned this statement from purchases: 500

Total miles earned this statement: 1,100 miles.

I believe my total miles earned this statement should have been: 1,300 miles ($300 everyday purchases + $700 other purchases + $300 everyday purchases).

I cant get Chase to understand this. They keep telling me that the miles have been reported to Mileage Plus.

Do you agree with my calculation? If so, has anyone had any problems getting the correct number of miles from Chase?

Thanks for any comments.

Maybe you had a $200 purchase count as a cash advance or something like that? Otherwise maybe sending Chase a letter or email is easier than trying to explain it over the phone.
