smart, the subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler that makes mini compacts in germany released this mini visa card thru its bank recently. Has anyone seen such card? Points (roadmiles) earned thru this card can be transferred to LH M&M.

Here in the US, I believe that several banks issue similar mini-cards.
Bank of America sent me a mini-Visa with the same account number as my bigger card (see below for pics). However, I haven't found much point to the card, since I always carry my wallet. Also, regarding the keychain feature: I don't really like the idea of giving a valet both my car keys and credit cards...

BoA Mini
BoA send me the mini card both for my Credit and my Debit card, the good thing is both have my picture on it.
I actualy use them quite regulary, amazing how often I acutaly find myself without my wallet, sad but now I'm covered.
However some retailers are a little sceptic about the card and it can take some convincing for them to swipe the card. The most fun is overseas (Europe) where they think it's a joke card and are amazed when the authorisation comes for the payment.

goes against the grain
for almost every purchase I made over the holiday's, I was asked for ID.
so not only do I have to have my keys out, I have to get my wallet out, too.
On the surface, this is a cool idea, but in reality, could present more problems.

I've been asked for ID too on a few occasions. Problem is the signature panel is soooo tiny that the clerk can't make it out.
There have been a few times that I've gone out w/o my wallet and having it on my keychain was a lifesaver. I even "lost" my wallet (temporarily) while traveling and this was my only way to pay for anything.
I keep it on a "multi" keychain - the valet only gets the car keys, not the card or house keys.
