WorldPerks Visa bonus miles problem

I recently applied for this card over the internet through an offer for 10,000 bonus WorldPerks miles. I only received 3,000 miles.

I contacted customer service about this discrepancy, and received a letter which read in part: "We received your request to apply a better enrollment offer to your account. Regrettably, we are unable to award additional enrollment bonus miles if your account has been open longer than 30 days."

Apparently, there was another offer happening at the same time which only gave 3,000 miles, and US Bank insists that I applied for that offer. So my request to get the offer I actually applied for is, according to US Bank, a "request to apply a better enrollment offer." Although if I had caught this in 30 days, it would have been possible to give me the 10,000 miles--never mind that one is supposed to get the milage within 6-8 weeks, which is a bit longer than 30 days.

After a frustrating call to customer service today, I'm going to start writing some letters--but who should I send them to? US Bank customer service hasn't been very helpful so far, but I'm not sure who else to write. Northwest airlines? US Bank's president? (I can't find his/her contact info.)

Unfortunately, since I applied over the web, I don't have any printed material that conclusively proves that I applied for the 10,000 mile offer, although the web pages I applied to are still up, and still say 10,000 bonus miles. So, I'd advise anyone applying for this card to do so through a printed offer, or perhaps over the phone with confirmation of which offer you're applying for, and watch US Bank very, very carefully--you've only got 30 days if they make a mistake.

If you don't have an email or a copy of the offer page or something like that to fax them "proof" you had the bigger bonus offer, you may be out of luck. I had to fax them something myself (but my case was 2 years ago and I did have a specific email to print/fax to them). This happened not only with NW, but with some other places liek SPG too --- seems like they all have multiple offers out there!

Good luck!

Gleff can tell you about this scam ad nauseum. US Bank offers are like pulling teeth. Even if you have a copy of the offer, they may not give it to you.

This happened with my wife on the 25,000 mile bonus deal last year. She faxed them the paper 4 times and they would never reply. She had originally signed up for the 7,500 mile offer and Gleff faxed us the new offer within 30 days. She still didn't get it and had to fight like heck to get the other 4,500 miles. She got 3,000 like you did. She cancelled the card immediately and told them to never contact her again.

I don't know who is worse, US Bank or MCI? If their lips are moving, they're lying.

Not reassuring news seeing how I just received my WPs Visa today

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Will let you know what problems I run into, however.

How long did it take for you to get your Visa? I applied for the 10k bonus also, and want to use it to make purchuses for the 5 other things.

The points are already there? Did you charge something already? I thought you had to charge something and pay the bill to get the miles.

I am still waiting for mine, I hope I get it soon so I can get the bonus 10k miles from the fly free faster promo.

Bonus Miles problem

I have a similar problem. Last November three of us decided that since we live in the NW hub we should earn more NW miles. All three of us applied for the same US Bank web offer of 10K miles. One got all 10K miles with no problem. Another girl was opening World Perks account together with the WP visa. She got all her miles and to her great surprise and our envy she also received WP Silver ! No one knows if it is NW or US bank that made the mistake but she is happy.
I got only 7,500 miles posted. I called US bank and they sent me a letter saying that my acct has to be in good standing for 15 months to get the remainder of 2,500 miles. I told them that it is not in the terms and conditions posted on the web but no luck so far...

It's now become pretty much the only way I handle any type of transaction.
