Mileage Plus visa deal
I got an offer for a Mileage Plus Visa today, 15,000 miles, $25 coupon and 1000 mile upgrade cert -- pretty normal, but this one also offered to waive the $60 fee for the first year. Seems a pretty good deal, especially since my FirstUSA e-card is loosing its major benefit 5% rebates on Amazon purchases in the next few days.
Anyone know of better offers out there?

I am also searching for a new card. This link does not mention that I would get 15.000 miles.

This link says there is a $60 fee - does not mention waiver---also there is a 20,000 mile offer out there - don't know about No Fee...will have to call and ask

i got the same "targeted" email with the points, upgrade and no annual fee, tten later today i was at another computer and went straight to MP, and THERE the offer did not include the first year waiver....
i am just about ready to end my delta amex card and move on anyway....not that united flies from here anymore than delta does.....could I LIVE in a more expensive city to fly out of?? (yes, I KNOW i could.....it was rhetorical)

From my own personal experience, you should not have any problems using the attached link. None of the links ever seem to mention the offer, but a scroll down to the annual fee confirms no fee for the first year. BTW, I have never seen the $20K offer with a fee waiver. The decision you have to make is if it is worth $60 for the additional 5K miles under the 20K offer or if 15K will suffice without the fee.

Just click on the link supplied--had to do it a few times - but I found it and applied - printed out the NO FEE for FIRST YEAR! - (Just in case) w/15000 mi. Good deal - win win situation I think.

I also could not find 15,000 bonus miles AND annual fee waived for the first year. I called the 800 application number, and they did not know of any deal that gave bonus miles and no annual fee. I talked to several CSR agents, and also a "supervisor" as well. She said she had never heard of such a good deal, but she said United has tons of offers out so maybe it was one they didn't process. I think unless you have an application form that indicates both 15,000 bonus miles and annual fee waived, you won't get them both.

The email that came with the fee-waived link said

OK, so the offer is a specific targeted email. Thanks for posting the small print. If this is the case, they will not honor the offer unless you are the email recipient. Can anyone clue me in on how United chooses who to target for promotions and things? My husband often gets juicy offers from United, but I get nothing 
and of course I am always looking to get miles while he doesn't want to be bothered with it all.

It's not at all clear that they would not honor the offer for others. FirstUSA/BankOne has been quite free with the bonus miles in the past. Many people have gotten 20k bonus miles over and over even though they were existing cardmembers. That's not supposed to happen, it's right there in the terms, but they do it anyway. I've certainly got a round of bonus as an existing cardmember.
The only difference here is the first year fee waived bit. All the previous offers involved actually paying the $60 fee. (Indeed, you can still get the 20k offer with the $60 fee.) But really, I'm not sure there's anything to suggest that one wouldn't get this offer if they didn't receive the email. I'd try it myself, but based on a recent acceptance to get a low interest card (they gave me low credit limit) I may need to cancel a few other unused cards first before trying to apply.
