AA mastercard
Hi,
I was thinking of getting the AA Mastercard. Is it possible to sign up for the Platnum card, get the 10K bonus miles, and then switch the card to the Gold card to pay the cheaper annual fee? The Gold card's bonus is only 5K.

Through December 31, 2003, American Airlines offers platinum Mastercards for individuals and for businesses that have no annual fee for the first six months and give 10,000 miles with first purchase, plus other goodies. After the free six months the fees for the individual and business cards are $85 and $75 per year, respectively.
