getting in on promotions

Trying to accumulate max.miles for a trip this May for 4. I seem to have missed several promotions for double or triple miles whenever I've tried to register. Any suggestions? I feel like I spend an inordinate amount of time checking unsuccessfully.

A few suggestions:

Check FlyerTalk frequently.
