Visa and AA in Canada

Hi folks!!

Recently, I've received a letter from Royal Bank of Canada offering me a Visa Gold card with points for AA. To make it more attractive they offered me 5000 bonus points.

I've jumped on it for two reasons;

1. I also have a CIBC Aeroplan Gold card. I'll return it, since I can only collect points with Air Canada and Air Canada let you use their points for flights ONLY! Right now I have enough points on AC to go to anywhere in the world several times..but I can't have a free hotel stay anywhere with AC!!

2. With AA, I can send my points to HHonors and build up free hotels stays.

So I would recommand to points junkie in Canada to switch to this new card as it may send a strong message to AC about their poor program.
