Get money back from the card

I used my MC for about 6000$ to pay for the tuition for a friend. Right now he got a scholarship from the university. The university said they're going to credit the money back into my card but not in a very near future. If I pay the balance first and the university credit the money back into the card, I will have a credit balance of around 6000$. Will it be possible to ask the card company to send a cheque for the amount of the credit balance? Thanks.

nlp,

You shouldn't have any problem requesting and getting the check for the overpayment/credit.

I had a problem once with First USA. They said because of the high dollar amount they would not refund it to me for 12 weeks because it might be fraud. I think I remember having to call their HQ to get it cleared up. My case was a mistake where I paid them twice by mistake so I needed the money back ASAP, 12 weeks was ridiculous! Just once reason I longer carry a card from First USA.

If you are talking about the card issued by First USA for Marriott, I agree. It is antagonistic to it's customers. I think Marriott personel administer their customer disservice! High charges for cash advances.

RoadRunner - uncanny! That's the one! Although I am convinced ALL First USA are like that - they are HORRIBLE in ALL aspects of service (my consitutionally protected opinion
