Per my latest statement, effective September 17 Merchandise Rewards and Paper Checks will no longer be available award redemption options.

Don't consider this to be a big deal as Merchandise redemptions were never a great value and you can still apply rewards as a credit to your account.

Thanks for the reminder that Ink Cash is 5% on phone. I’ve been using wells for the 3% phone. I don’t use it besides the phone and I’m somewhat captive for that $25 increment of reward because I only get it as a credit on my credit card. I otherwise have zero wells exposure. That’s probably the primary reason why I use it with infrequency as my Chase cash rewards just appear eg Amazon Chase can be redeemed for $1 every day if I wished.

Perhaps not for personal cards but the Chase Ink Preferred is 3x on phone.

Anyways, $3k on hotels/airfare 50/50 should likely break even on the Autograph Journey compared to the Autograph's 3%. And WF accepts product downgrades if you really want to get the high SUB in year one and then downgrade to Autograph in the future.

That being said, I could totally see someone doing a multiple card setup with Autograph Journey and Autograph, or a $0 AF transferrable card setup with Autograph and Active Cash.

Downgrade is only available after you pay a second AF thanks to the CARD act. My sister tried to do it and that was what she was told.

You can redeem against a purchase on your card as low as $1 if desired. For example if you had a reward balance of $16 you could buy a $16 amazon gift card on Amazon using your WF card and then get a statement credit back for the purchase amount.

WF just added JetBlue as a 1:1 transfer partner.

And on a 1:1 basis.

Wells Fargo Autograph Replacement card for Bilt MC

Card arrived in the mail today from Omaha Nebraska.
"This card canot be used prior to 2/7/2026
Confirm this card on or after 2/7/2026 at Wellsfargo.com/confirm"
AND
enclosed an envelope to "securely discard your old credit card"

Wells must be trying to hang on to Bilt customers. I am surprised they did not make more of an effort earlier.

Is there a reason to hold Autograph card when you have Autograph Journey card already?

mia Feb 3, 2026 6:22 pm

There is an Autograph vs Journey comparison here. It looks as if Autograph earns 3X points on a few categories that are un-bonused on the other card:

That link has a great chart that demonstrates why I have no need to pay $95 for this card.

Other than 40k more points in the first year AND the card refunds 50$ in airfare - so 40k points for $45 is a great value

I am traveling to Boston at the end of September. I want to book an IHG hotel using points. IHG offers rewards nights for upwards of 96K per night. Using my Wells Fargo rewards, I was able to book a refundable room for 46K/night. IHG isn't a transfer partner yet, so this is through whatever travel service Wells Fargo uses. Is this even possible? I'm nervous about this booking. It may be a too good to be true situation. Has anyone else used Wells Fargo rewards like this?
The company providing the hotel is Travelscape, LLC, according to the fine print.

Not at all- IHG points are worth about half a cent a point vs at least 1 cent a point for Wells Fargo rewards, so it ties out

Bellacricket May 9, 2026 9:50 am

Yes, that does make sense. All of the properties I searched were priced at 1 cent/point. I'm so used to ridiculous devaluations, it just didn't seem possible. The Wells Fargo Rewards are slower to accumulate, and it's taken 3 years to get enough points for this single redemption, but then again, I would have had to buy a bunch of IHG points. So win-win, I guess?
