Barclays Card - application considerations

I had a Barclays AA card that I got last October 2019. I didn't put much spending on it. (I know, mistake.) I am thinking of going for the Barclays Jetblue card with 100k points offer within the next two weeks. Question: What will give me a better chance of approval for Jetblue card? Should I close Barclays AA first or just apply for Jetblue card, or try to put some spending now on the AA card (not sure if it will still help)?

Thank you.

Barclay's does care about spending on existing cards, especially if you have to call recon. They do not like seeing your accounts with them being dormant and then you applying for another. I'd put some spend on it first.

Hey all. I had my chase credit card with AARP. Barclays took over the account. I had put in a dispute for a charge, and Barclays closed my credit card. I signed up for a new one. Barclays told me that they were unable to transfer the funds off of my chase card because it was a separate company. I have about $1,900 debt on the old card. I asked her if I could make a payment over the phone. She was unable to "process my payment" So, here is my question. IF A) I can't make an over the phone payment B) transfer the funds from the old card to the new card C) Not able to make an online payment because the account has been shut down. How does one make a payment. Thank you for your time...> Bill

If Chase did not sell your account to Barclays you need to pay Chase, and Chase should send you statements. If Chase did sell your account to Barclays, they will still send statements until the balance is paid in full. If you do not receive statements you need to ask Barclays why, and to tell you the full account balance and the address where you should mail the payment.

hello, I was able to make an over the phone payment. I spoke with Rachel, and she told me sometimes when the systems gets an upgraded. People are unable to make a payment during upgrades to their system. I was real happy that I met Rachel and she was able to help me to make a payment over the phone thank you. Bill
