LONGTERM Card Hold & Spend Strategy Shared

Took some thinking, but I think this is where I am at as far as what I will hold and how to spread out the spend. If this helps anyone, great! If anyone sees opportunities/better cards I have overlooked, great! Feel free to comment, thanks :-)

Holding
CSR - $450 ($150-AF after travel credits)
AMEX Platinum - $550 ($50-AF after Saks credit, Airline credit, Uber credit)
Chase Ink Preferred - $95-AF
Chase Southwest Priority - $149 ($74-AF after SW credit)
Chase Southwest Premier Business - $99-AF
Discover - $0-AF
Costco Citi Visa - $0-AF (with COSTCO membership)
Amazon Prime Visa - $0-AF

Spending
ALL GAS - Costco CITI Card 6% Cashback w/executive
ALL COSTCO - Costco Citi Card 4% Cashback w/executive
ALL Dining - CSR - 3 pts/$1
ALL Rental Car - CSR - 3pts/$1 & goes towards travel credit
ALL Cable/Cell Phone - INK PREFERRED - 3pts/$1 AND provides full insurance on ALL phones on plan!
ALL AIRFARE (non reward) - AMEX Platinum - 5pts/$1
Other Grocery Stores: AMEX Blue Cash Every day? 3% cashback
Amazon Prime Visa - $0-AF for 5% at Amazon & Whole Foods

thanks!

You may want to consider the new Amex PRG for other U.S. grocery spend and dining (4X MR). Or toss in an Amex Blue Business Plus or Chase Freedom Unlimited (2X MR or 1.5X UR, respectively) for all other spend in general.

I don't see the AMEX PRG as 4x MR points... you have a link?

Most are cancelled out pretty easily... and the benefits are outstanding.

Gotcha. Sounds like those are going live on 10/4... But as great as it sounds, I would have to take on another $195 AF right? Or $95 after flight credit.

That is true. I think one could make the argument, however, that your CIP + new PRG makes the CSR expendable. You'd remove a $450 annual fee (net $150) and gain a $195 fee (net $95).

I think the BofA family is great if you can hold $100k there. I just have a bunch of retirement funds sitting in index funds in a free commission account there anyway.

BofA Cash Rewards gets 3.5% cash back on Costco, Groceries. 5.25% on Gas giving you 5.5% with the executive 2% kickback.
US Bank Altitude Card - Costco now has Apple Pay, so 4.5% + 2% executive if you have travel expenses to rebate

BofA Premium Rewards gets 2.625% on everything, which is what I use for most other things.
