Which card program for business gas spending?
My brother in law has a business that spends about 12k per year in gas and 2k on hotel stays. He wants to get a card that gets points for domestic flights on Allegiant, AA, Delta, Frontier, or United (those are the only airlines that fly to his local airport).
I was thinking a Citi ThankYou Premier or Prestige for the 3x points for gas and hotels, and using the portal to get $0.0125 or $0.016 for AA flights. Are there any business cards that can beat that?

Chase Ink Plus gets 2x points on gas and hotel. Maybe combine that with a personal UR-earning card like the Freedom?

American Express Business Gold Rewards offers bonus points in five categories. The cardholder chooses one of the categories to earn 3 points per dollar, the others earn 2 points per dollar:
Membership Rewards transfer directly to Delta (1000:1000) and can be used for travel on American or United by redeeming through alliance partners. See Wikipost at top of this thread:

For the first $100,000 in eligible spending in each calendar year in each of the five categories specified below, you can earn additional points, as follows: you can earn: (1) 2 additional points (for a total of 3 points) in one category of your choice from the five categories specified below; and (2) 1 additional point (for a total of 2 points) in the remaining four categories.
The five categories are:
(1) airfare on a scheduled flight charged directly with passenger airlines (charter flights and private jet flights are excluded);
(2) advertising purchased in the U.S. to promote your business online, on television, or on the radio;
(3) gasoline at gas stations located in the U.S. (superstores, supermarkets and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline are not considered gas stations);
(4) shipping services purchased in the U.S. for courier, postal, and freight;
(5) computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases in the U.S. made directly from select providers. (The current list of select computer hardware, software, and cloud computing providers is available at: americanexpress.com/rewards-info.)
Eligible purchases in excess of $100,000 in the applicable category in a calendar year will earn only one point for each dollar spent on eligible purchases.You may select the category in which to earn 3X points within the first two months of becoming a Card Member. Thereafter, you can change your selection only once during the annual selection period which runs from December 1st to January 31st each year. You can only change your category once annually. You can make your category selection by either calling the number on the back of your Card or going to open.com/businessgold. If you do not make a selection during the initial enrollment period, you will receive 3X points on airfare purchased directly from airlines. If you do not change your election during the annual selection period, your category will remain the same as the previous year. Only the Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager with Full Access may make the selection and their selection will apply to purchases made by all Card Members on the account.Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. Additional terms and restrictions apply.Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. A purchase will not earn additional points if the merchant's code is not eligible. I would go with one of the above two suggested above
1) Amex Business Gold - 3x on gas
2) Chase Ink - 2x on gas
Prestige does not earn 3x on gas. Premier gives you 3x on gas. However, in order to get 1.60 redemption towards AA, you need to have prestige.
edit: Amex Everyday Preferred might be a GREAT option. You can get upto 4.5 at supermarket. Buy gas giftcards there and there you have it, you get 4.5 MR points per $. This basically beats everything.

Using a personal card, or buying gasoline giftcards, is not prudent for a business with employees who make purchases. Using a business credit card gives the owners much better control of spending, and more accurate records because each card has its own number and the transaction records will accurately reflect what was actually purchased.

Best Gas Card to track
Hello all,
I have two vehicles, both pretty new. I currently keep all my receipts, manually write the miles on the top, and then enter them into my automotive tracking program. What I would like to do is get a credit card that has the ability to allow me to require the miles and vehicle number to be entered when purchasing fuel. And hopefully still getting some cash back, points, or the like. We visit many different gas stations, but could become more brand loyal if needed, especially to BP, Mobil, or Marathon. Anything out there like what I am looking for?
Oh, and I do have a business if needed, and could open a business card.
Thanks!
Matt

points or cashback?
there are two that give 5% cashback.
There are couple that gives 2-3 points. 2 UR, 3 TYP, and 3 MR to be exact. You might value one over another depending on how you evaluate these points and how you evaluate other benefits of the said cards.

Best Gas Card to track
I used to have exxonmobil fleet cards that do exactly what you want. Other brands offer it is well and there are universal cards too. Each vehicle gets a unique card number and each use requires entry of driver ID and mileage. We used their speed pass tags attached to each vehicle's key ring. Reports available to track cost per mile and lots more. Also can set limits and alerts on time of use, quantity or dollar amount, geographic limits and more. There is a rebate based on quantity purchases per month.

runb4fun - I think cashback right now is the better option. What cards are you thinking of?
rt1flea - the Exxon Mobil Fleet looks like a decent idea, especially since I could link to a Speedpass and make it easy. However, their rebates for me would be low - as much fuel as it feels like I use all the time, I'm not over 500 gallons a month. Realistically though, between the two cars, we are probably at 150 gallons a month, which is kind of insane for a household I think!
