Can there be any problems in closing a card, used to buy a few airline tickets, before using those tickets? I want to close it because of annual fee, which applies after the first year.

Probably not. I've heard of people being asked for the card used for purchasing the ticket when checking in, I guess to help combat fraud, but I've never been asked. So you may want to hold onto the actual card to present it when checking in just in case. Also, should you cancel and be due a refund, it might be a bit more of a hassle getting that money back if the card was canceled.

In my case some of these tickets are for another person, so she won't be able to have the card with her regardless of whether I close it or not.

OK, understood, I'm fine with this.
