Misprinted name on card and points?

I'm seeking the collective wisdom of the group on this one.

Here is the chain of events. I applied for a card, was accepted, however when I read the acceptance notification I realized that I had inadvertently mistyped my last name. I immediately called customer service and the rep said I needed to wait a few days before the issue could be addressed because an account wasn't created. I called back and talked to a rep about fixing the spelling of my last name. The rep said everything would be taken care of and indicated that a card with my correct spelling would be sent out. I asked to have my card shipment expedited this was on Thursday.

Today, I got my mail and without reading the name on the card I activated it successfully. After I hung up the phone, as I was taking the sticker off, I read the name and it was misspelled.

I am assuming that this card was sent out before I called to get the problem with the spelling fixed. My second assumption is that I have another card that is en route that will have the correct spelling of my last name, but I don't know.

Here is my question: If my assumption is correct, and I receive another card shortly, and if I am able to activate the card, will I be able to receive bonus points from both cards if I reach the spend on both cards? I would think that when the credit card companies fix an error they make a change to the actual account that was opened, but I have no idea on what their process is like.

Any thoughts?

LOL

Your name changed not the account number.

One bonus.

So much for wishful thinking then! lol.

You would think that they would have some sort of standard operating procedure to catch a misprint before it goes out.

They probably do - they match against your application. It's not a misprint if that is the spelling you gave them!

You might have the misspelled name end up on your CRs, in which case you'll know where the "pre-approved" marketers get their info.
