I think the AMEX SPG card is one of the best all around credit cards, since you can redeem points for free nights as well as transfer them to several airlines. SPG has more airline transfer partners than Membership Rewards. I think the Marriott card is better than the Hilton cards, since the signup bonus is better, and you get a complimentary stay, every year on renewal.
