Newbie needs advice
I'm just getting my feet wet in the miles/points/credit cards. My husband and I are trying to start small so we were going to get the Citi AA Platinum Personal Mastercard for myself and a few months from now, get one for him. I applied today and received a message about my application needing "further consideration". Could this be because I'm now a stay-at-home mom? For the income section, I put his annual income but is it possible I don't have enough credit? We've shared the same Discover card for the last 9 years and I haven't worked since 2008.

Welcome to the miles & points game !!
Did you try calling the reconsideration line? Sometimes all they need us a little information to approve you and send you on your way.
I think the Citi AA thread has some phone numbers you can try.
If you haven't already I would also sign up for credit karma and credit sesame ( both free) to help monitor credit. And a few blogs to help stay informed.

It may also be prudent to apply for the less strict cards/easier to get cards. They often have good sign up bonuses. Most of the credit card companies have in the description of the card suggested credit scores (although that is not the only factor) for people applying.
I get reconsideration a lot because I have many lines of credit and make more than the average Joe. Reconsideration does not mean no, just call the line as suggested.

BTW, you don't need to have your husband wait several months unless you can't meet the spend. Your applications will be treated separately by Citi.
