- take a good look at the 3 region awards, they apply for any flights crossing the Atlantic but not the Pacific, for example HKG-FRA-SFO would be considered a 3 region award at Miles & More. Why is this good value? Well find the longest 4 segment one-way and a place where there are no fuel surcharges and you may be surprised of what you can get for $1400 in miles bought.

The existance of 3 region awards can also be a pain. I've been told that simply routing via another region can trigger the 3-region award fee. Still, there are some gems with this program.

Remember that this is the program for the combined entity of LH, LX, OS. For fans of aspirational redemptions, Miles & More has been *the* way to fly products such as LX F long-haul (via starpoints). Their award inventory includes a lot of availability that they do not release to star alliance. They tend to be great for last-minute space. Expect high fuel surcharges.

According to the terms these miles won't expire..."provided that you make a purchase for which miles are awarded at least once a month AND have held a Miles & More MasterCard for at least three months." (bolding mine)
Sounds pretty harsh as far as usual expiration rules but I'm assuming they mean if you don't satisfy those two conditions your miles will eventually expire at some time in the future, like 18 months or whatever just as most other programs? But I've never heard of that "once a month" activity requirement. |

US Domestic First Class is 17,000 miles one-way and 35,000 RT. Just spoke to M&M Call Center in Singapore. My test was JFK-LAX in UA F (booked as Business Class).

There's another offer for this card out there, with a lower spending requirement ($2500 in 3 months):
https://www.barclaycardus.com/app/ja...13&legacy=true However, that one (unlike the new one) looks like it does have the lower signup bonus for the Platinum card, if you're approved for that one. "If at the time of your application you do not meet the credit criteria previously established for this offer, or the income you report is insufficient based on your obligations, we may not be able to open an account for you or you may receive a Platinum MasterCard which has fewer benefits." |
This offer sounds fantastic! Anyone know if HI is also considered domestic?

Can these LH miles be transferred to United?

The M&M card for US residents has been a pain for many, so beware:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...hlight=barclay http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...hlight=barclay The 50 K offer has been around: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...hlight=barclay If you are based in the US and want to be frugal, the only good use for the 50k M&M are to buy UA domestic awards which are really charged at the domestic rates on the award chart and have no fuel surcharge(s). The rest all attracts a hefty fuel surcharge the BAEC card holder cringe at, but you have access to LH/LX/OS inventory that Chase UR / UA MP / US DM redeemers dream of. |
It seems the annual fee is not waived the first year.

Is it possible to combine miles as a household account (a la BA) or to transfer miles from one account to another within a household?
