Backwards because you wind up with two hundred thousand points in a program that are less valuable to you than fifty thousand points in a different program. For example, sucks when someone starts collecting British Airways Avios so they can fly economy from west coast to London.

If Delta looks like it will work in your case, rock it.

Not really, I was looking at doing this by booking on AA with Avios to avoid YQ on BA.
