Rejection letters

I just got rejection letters for, both the USAir Barclay's card (applied for one 96 apart--too early), and the AAdvantage Gold card (applied for the AAdvantage platinum Select Visa--too many cards).

Should I bother calling the reconsideration number, or is this decision final? What reason would I give that I want another USAir card?

These are not final. I would try calling them - atleast once, especially if you have credit that can be moved around.

Always call recon if available. You already have a hard pull so you have nothin to lose (unless they repull from other credit bureaus.

There is a lot of data out there regarding recon with Barclays; just be aware that out of major banks, they are the most sensitive to churning, lots of pulls/accounts, etc. I would tell them that you want a 2nd card for business reimbursable expenses.

Always call. For future reference, if you don't get an instant approval, call before they have a chance to deny you.

I have had zero luck with all Citi denials. Every rep I've talked to can't do anything unless there was an error in the application or credit report. Reconsideration isn't the right word to use with their department.

I just sent in a reconsideration letter to Citi after reading it may be more successful, not sure how long it will take to get a response.

I agree, the way to go with citi is to write to them. Atleast some chance of approval. Calling them is of no use (my personal experience).
