Looking for another cc with free hotel points
Looking to stay in Phoenix for 3 nights as a stopover to our trip next year to Hawaii .
Now my search is for free hotel points even with minimal spend but no annual fee.
Presently I have:
Priority club 80k to use for San Fran visit in Sept. plus 1 night with annual fee.
LaQuinta: presently using points and husband denied card (firstcardbank)
SPG: 4k left
Choice Privileges: 13k left
Marriott 50K Husband too- using for Hawaii.
Do not want to pay the $95 annual fee just for one night certificate for a cat2
Hilton 5k left ( used points)
Had Wyndham and transferred 12k to United pts and closed account
I have Chase Preferred with 47k UR ( saving for a another trip)
Husband is somewhat reluctant to get anymore cards under his name.
other fee options:
I could apply for the HA and transfer 35k to Hilton Honors for 70k
what do you advise?
ETA: For some reason I had forgotten about the Citi Visa HH no fee card..with $1k spend and 50k bonus pts.. just applied and got approved! Yay!

The Marriott give you a Cat. 1>5 on renewal not 1>2. Worth the annual fee IF you need/want a room in a Cat. 4 or 5.
There are two HA cards you can apply for BofA and BofH that will give you 140,000 Hilton but they each have a 1st year fee.

Thanks for your reply, what I meant was that the hotel I was looking at in Phoenix for the 3 nite stay is only a Category 2 thus not worth the annual fee.

can be churned repeatedly (as often as every 2.5 or 3 monhts if you can do the $1500 spend that fast). Between now and "next year" you should have time to get it several times over, and thus well over 100k HHonors points.
(But if the room rates with money are low in Phoenix at the time you're going, HHonors points would likely be an especially poor value. Perhaps use them for Hawaii itself?

What time of year? Phoenix outside of winter can have extremelly cheap hotel rates, making redemption a poor value then.
I am picky about the hotel.. 1ST WEEK IN JANUARY
This no-annual-fee card:

That's good to know!

Have a condo for 5 days in Hawaii then 5 nights with Marriott.
