I am not sure where I heard this, but I think I read someplace that AmEx credit cards only will allow you to have two points/miles promos per year. Is this true? In the summer of 2012, I received SPG points, and I am working on 50K points from a HHonors AmEx.

Could I open another card with Amex and get points, or will I be shut out until the summer of 2013? any ideas?

sorry--I thought I was in the AmEx thread, not the general thread. Can the mod move this thread?

Amex has gotten stingier about churning their own cards. For example, I got a Platinum card this year and was denied a signup bonus because I had a Plat card in the past. (For reasons not worth getting into, I chose not to argue.)

However, I'm pretty sure there is no per se limit on cobranded cards. If you get a SPG and a Hilton Amex, it should not affect your bonus possibilities on a Citi AA Amex, or a regular Amex, etc. I've never seen anything like that.

I've gotten rewards on 4 AMEX cards in the last 12 months.
