Amex Signup Help

As my wife refuses to use any card that is not True Amex, what's the best True Amex signup offer right now? We are long-time users of Blue Cash.

Thanks!

SPG Amex is at 25,000 and Starwood is the Cadillac of points.

Mercedes Amex Platinum with 50k signup bonus with $1000 spend. Although you have to pay $475 annual fee which easily pay for itself with all the benefits like global entry and $200 ($400 and sometimes $600) airline fee credits.

I can understand $400 if you time it near the end of the year but how can you get $600????

Open it in December, get a credit in December, a Credit the next December, and a credit in the next January, then cancel before paying the next fee?

Depends on what you want to do with the points, but I agree with Amex SPG, Amex Mercedes Platinum, and would add Amex Premier Rewards Gold. None are earth-shattering sign-up bonuses, but they are not lower than normal either.

Yup, I believe you have 60 days after you pay your renewal fee to cancel your card and get a full refund on the annual fee. But even if you go pass the 60 days, you can still get a prorated refund.

However, I have not tried getting the $600 because the timing on my cards haven't worked out so far. But I don't see why it shouldn't work.

You should be able to get at least $400 no matter when you open your card, not just the end of the year.
