I just looked at Credit Karma and my Fake FICO is above 760 and the other scores they list are excellent. EXCEPT my auto insurance score is poor. I've had one claim in my driving history and it was last year when someone vandalized my rental car. The cost was $200. I've one ticket and it was at least three years ago. So, why would my auto insurance score be so low? And is it worth paying to find out what it really is?

It's not necessarily driving history. Some time back, somewhere in all these threads, someone reported that a large AoR caused their insurance premium to go up. In that case, the algorithm was apparently weighted toward number of inquiries. In a sense, applying for many credit cards was a proxy for risk-taking behavior.

However, according to this thread, no one on myfico believes the CK auto score means anything anyway: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebu...e/td-p/1870503

My score has always been ridiculously low on CK... even before I got into the CC game. I'm on a 25+yr old policy with no tickets or accidents and I've only had one small claim from 8yrs ago. IME the score on CK is not anywhere close to what my insurance uses because my premium is about as low as it can get.

Conclusion: don't put too much stock into what CK tells you.

When my score drops to 740, I usually start slowing down with the apps. When it drops to around 720, that's when I say no more apps for awhile.

Once you slow down/stop, how long until it's safe to resume?
